STAGE 2

Discoverability through better metadata

Drive discovery and sales by investing in your book's metadata, including information on awards, media mentions, samples, images, and more! BiblioShare ensures you're creating quality metadata, Webform can help you build your records, and we advise on standards to make sure your data is usable and effective in the global supply chain.

STAGE 3

Promote your books

It's time for the world to know about your book, and for retailers and libraries to start placing orders. Data flows from BiblioShare to e-commerce
and discovery platforms like 49th Shelf and our WordPress plugin, as well as CataList's digital catalogue tool for easy promotion, ordering support, and access to the Loan Stars readers' advisory tool for libraries. SalesData and LibraryData can be used to aid ordering and stocking decisions.

STAGE 4

Get down to business

Use Pubnet EDI to send and receive orders, shipment notices, and return invoices for print books. EDI standards make business-to-business communication fast and easy. Retailers of all sizes can use BiblioShare services like our Bookstore Builder plugin for Shopify to sell print or digital books online. Sales agencies, retailers, and libraries can use CataList to create and export orders.

STAGE 5

Performance and
inventory management

Stay on top of sales — including books to return or re-order — and circulation in the book retail and library markets with SalesData and LibraryData. Then come full circle by using all that data, plus insights from our consumer surveying, to inform future printing, ordering, marketing, and editorial decisions.

Found a participant who doesn’t have any products listed in a particular stage? The yellow vertical lines are meant to illustrate each participant’s journey through the supply chain, regardless of which BookNet products are or aren’t relevant at that stage. In some cases, like with authors in stage 3, we do not have any specific products or services that offer direct support.
