Hi everyone! I'm Hannah, the new Product Coordinator here at BookNet Canada. I'll be working primarily on the soon-to-be-launched LibraryData project, as well as assisting with SalesData and CataList on the side. I'm beyond excited to be part of the BookNet team, and am looking forward to working with a wide range of publishers, retailers, and library professionals as we prepare to launch LibraryData to the book industry.
I come to BookNet via the Master of Information program at U of T, where I developed an unabashed love for a good Excel spreadsheet and all things metadata. Prior to joining BookNet, I worked in the E.P. Taylor Library and Archives at the Art Gallery of Ontario and in the Humanities and Social Sciences Department at the Toronto Reference Library. As you may have already guessed by now — I'm a huge library geek who's happiest when I'm surrounded by shelves and shelves of books. Like my colleague Shimona, I've reached the maximum number of holds at my local library on more than one occasion. On the average day, I usually have a couple of audiobooks on the go along with a well-traveled paperback.
And speaking of books... like most of my coworkers here at BookNet, I'm a voracious reader so find it hard to pick favourites! I like to read a little bit of everything. Some of my most-loved authors include: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Neal Stephenson, Helen Oyeyemi, Zadie Smith, Thomas King, and George Saunders.
Some more favourites:
Movie: Paddington 2
Album: At the moment, Lizzo's Cuz I Love You
Podcast: The Adventure Zone (a must-listen for any D&D fans out there)
Video Game: Hollow Knight!
Snack: Ants on a log (peanut butter and raisins on celery sticks, for the uninitiated)
I'm grateful to have the opportunity to learn more about new standards and data-driven technologies, and to help support BookNet's mission to serve the Canadian book industry. I'm thrilled to be joining a team of such passionate, hard-working people. Speaking of which — it's time to get back to work! See you around.
