Hi folks!
I am back at my happy place, also known as BookNet Canada. I'm the newest Marketing Associate on the team. I'll be working with some smart and knowledgeable colleagues in the planning of Tech Forum 2020 as well as doing lots of marketing-related fun stuff.
Some of you probably remember me from last year’s Tech Forum. I was running up and down, chasing speakers, greeting attendees, and listening to the sessions with a curious and sometimes a little confused expression. Truth be told, the publishing industry was completely new to me then, but here I am months later ready to immerse myself one more time in this fascinating world.
A little about me: I was born in a small town in Colombia called Ubaté, and my parents named me Nataly (Nah-tah-lee) after a song. When I was 16 I moved to Bogotá to get a bachelor's degree in Hotel and Tourism Management. After graduating I moved to the United States and years later life brought me to Canada. The day I landed was an extremely cold day in late December in 2017.
Some of the things I enjoy are: taking pictures of my hamster Yerry Mina (we named him after a Colombian soccer player who made us proud during the last World Cup); doing puzzles; petting other people’s cats (like the one in the picture, his name is Raisin); watching movies (Rocketman is currently my favourite); naturally, I also LOVE music (Live jazz? I am in. Heavy metal concert? I am in. Mariachi crossed with heavy metal? Guess what? I am in. And if you're asking yourself what on Earth am I talking about, yes, there's a band called Metalachi that plays Black Sabbath type-of-music with a mariachi twist. I’ve seen them in concert four times!); and, of course, reading (the last life-changing book I read was Body Positive Power by Megan Jayne Crabbe, I loved every bit of it).
That’s it about me, folks. I look forward to a great year of working and learning in this industry. I hope to see you all at Tech Forum 2020!
