Hello world! I’m Madeleine Griggs, the newest software developer here at BookNet. I’m excited to join the development team and get down to fixing bugs, adding features, and generally improving our software!
A bit about me: Both of my parents were software developers, so I started to learn to code around the same time I learned to type. Coding has always been in my life, but I’ve previously had a career as an interior designer/project coordinator. It’s exciting to move into the book industry, and I’m looking forward to getting to know more folks within it.
I was born and raised right here in Toronto, and I have a big soft spot for books/tv/movies that are actually set in my home city. Some favs: Tanya Huff’s Gate of Darkness, Circle of Light, Nalo Hopkinson’s Brown Girl in the Ring, and the Scott Pilgrim series by Bryan Lee O’Malley. Otherwise, I mainly read Sci-Fi and Fantasy, but I couldn’t possibly name favourites (too many!), but I do love authors that write in both genres or blend them in interesting ways.
When I’m not coding or reading, you’ll probably catch me embroidering, playing video games with my girlfriend, or walking my lovely dog, George.
