At the end of last year, we showed you the bestselling books of 2024. Let’s now look at last year's bestselling books by Canadian contributors.

The following lists are based on print sales volume in Canada from January 1, 2024 to December 1, 2024, according to SalesData, BookNet’s national sales tracking service for the Canadian English-language trade book market.

This year's list is almost entirely different from last year’s top 10, with the exception of Carley Fortune, who has two bestselling titles this year. In 2023 her book, Meet Me at the Lake, was in the number one spot, and another one of her titles, Every Summer After, was number two in 2022.

Most of the books were paperback (80%), with 50% being frontlist (down from 80% frontlist in 2023). The main subjects were romance (60%) (including one fantasy romance), and the other genres were Mystery & Detective and Literary.

There is a significant overlap between 2023’s bestselling Canadian Non-Fiction and this year’s. Outlive by Peter Attia and Bill Gifford, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry and Lisa Kudrow, When the Body Says No by Gabor Maté, and The Myth of Normal by Gabor Maté and Daniel Maté were all top titles last year.

In 2024, 60% of top titles were frontlist, and 80% were hardcover.

For the first time since 2018, Love You Forever is not in the top spot! However, it’s still well-loved as three different editions of the classic Robert Munsch title remain on this list alongside Munsch’s The Paper Bag Princess.

The rest of the titles are new to this year’s list, though only three were frontlist titles and the rest were backlist. The main subjects were Classics, Fantasy, and Comics & Graphic Novels. There was a mix of formats with six paperback, three hardcover, and one board book.
